- 13 December 2014: Mom is
prescribed the strong antibiotic "Levaquin" by her daughter
Mary Beth's husband, Dr. Edward Walker who was in Florida at
the time and never examined my mother. My sister Mary
Beth called me from Florida and insisted that Mom had a UTI
and needed this medication and ordered me to pick up the
prescription she had called in from her husband's office and
begin administering the prescription to Mom even though I told
her that the urine stick test Mom did (the stick test strips
were evidently left at the house by Mary Beth's oldest
daughter Dr. Alison Walker who was a resident at a Long Island
Hospital) was negative and Mom had a completely normal
temperature. My wife dutifully picked up the medication
from Mom's CVS pharmacy and I (against my better judgement)
administered the double starter dose of the medication as
prescribed that evening before we left Mom for the night as
Mom told me that she did not want to go against Mary Beth's
wishes because my sister knew best since she was the wife of a
doctor and the mother of a daughter who was also a doctor.
- 14 December 2014:
I call Mom in the morning to remind her to take her
morning meds and she tells me that she hasn't gotten out
of bed yet but will shortly and she won't forget her meds.
